Position Mandate:

The Manager, Purchasing and Pricing, will play a crucial role in managing the procurement of metal for corporate stores in the United Kingdom and the USA, supporting the business with strategic pricing monitoring, analysis and recommendations. This position is responsible for ensuring the company’s purchasing is effectively executed, and provides essential support to operational staff in achieving competitive pricing in multiple markets and online. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position will work on a Hybrid basis from our Head Office in West Toronto, Ontario.


Key Responsibilities:

Purchasing and Cost Management:

  • Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies to secure the best costs and quality for larger quantities of metal products for corporate stores.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to establish favorable terms, conditions, and pricing.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust purchasing strategies to optimize cost efficiency.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Ensure timely and efficient procurement processes to avoid stock outs and excess inventory.
  • Monitor, analyze and maintain cost information in the ERP system to ensure accuracy and integrity.


Pricing Analysis and Recommendations:

  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to determine competitive pricing strategies.
  • Develop measurement tools to identify changing market trends.
  • Provide pricing recommendations to optimize online, corporate store and franchisee sales and profitability.
  • Develop pricing models and tools to assist in making informed pricing decisions.
  • Monitor pricing performance and adjust strategies as necessary to meet financial objectives.
  • Collaborate with digital and operational teams to develop promotional pricing strategies.


Support to Franchisees and Operational Staff:

  • Provide, as requested, training and guidance to franchisees and corporate staff on procurement processes and pricing strategies.
  • Assist operational staff in resolving selected purchasing and pricing-related issues.


Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Prepare detailed reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and pricing performance.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist the CFO in budgeting and forecasting related to purchasing and pricing.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Professional accreditations in purchasing, supply chain management and/or financial analysis are a benefit.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing and pricing, preferably in the metal distribution industry.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in financial planning and analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, BI tools and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
