We are currently looking for a Software Quality Test Engineer to join our busy and growing manufacturing company. The successful candidate will be engaged in elevating the department and company to the next level. The incumbent will be forward looking and thrive in a culture of continuous improvement.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITYReporting directly to the VP of Product Development, the Software Quality Test Engineer (Firmware) will provide software quality assurance to the developers on usability and functionality of software as well as providing full planning of test procedures, and documenting all testing scenarios, standards, methods, and processes.
This is a position requiring experience with manual firmware, UI and communication protocol testing. Candidates with no hands-on experience with HW and Embedded systems will not qualify.
Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to developers
- Document test procedures to ensure replicability and compliance with standards
- Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery dates
- Conduct software compatibility tests with programs, hardware, operating systems, or network environments
- Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality
- Update automated test scripts to ensure accuracy
- Monitor program performance to ensure efficient and problem-free operations
- Develop or specify standards, methods, or procedures to determine product quality or release readiness
- Conduct historical analyses of test results
- All other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- Very good knowledge of Python is a must, Experience with Postman or Python Requests is a plus
- Good understanding of firmware test systems
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Great team player and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Very good knowledge of communication protocols such as RS232/485, MQTT, Bluetooth
- Strong understanding of HW and electronic lab equipment (i.e. meters, oscilloscopes, & power supplies
- Ability to do small solder jobs is a plus
- Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes. UI/CLI/API and DB test
- Experience with PYQT is a plus
- Working knowledge of Git, Jira, and Confluence
- Experience with Unit/ end-to-end / regression and integration testing
- Familiarity with databases for test data push storage and data retrieval isconsidered an asset
- Experience using (programming) ESP32 for test automation is a plus.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- 4 years degree in technology-related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Software Quality Assurance Specialist
- Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test results
- Experience with regression, functional, and conformance testing
- Strong experience writing test cases, testing, and documenting results for Windows Application software, web, and mobile applications
- Must have experience with firmware test on simulators and/or hardware
- Must have experience with test automation using Python/Java Scripts
