Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Location: Onsite, Ottawa, Ontario

As part of this exciting expansion, we are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team.

Role Overview:

The CFO will play a pivotal role in guiding AutoShack through its next phase of growth, overseeing all financial aspects of the business, including managing corporate finance, budgeting, mergers, and acquisitions. This role requires a seasoned financial leader with a strong business acumen, a conservative approach to financial management, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The ideal candidate will possess a dynamic personality, excel at leadership, and demonstrate hands-on, multi-tasking capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Financial Leadership:
    • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with AutoShack’s business goals and expansion plans.
    • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to support the company’s growth and profitability.
    • Provide strategic guidance on mergers, acquisitions, and other business development opportunities.
  2. Capital Management and Fundraising:
    • Manage capital structure, including debt and equity financing, to support growth initiatives.
    • Lead efforts to secure funding for expansion, including managing relationships with investors, banks, and financial institutions.
  3. Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, including tax and audit requirements.
    • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring financial transparency and accountability.
  4. Mergers and Acquisitions:
    • Identify, evaluate, and execute potential mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships that align with the company’s strategic objectives.
    • Lead due diligence efforts, negotiate terms, and integrate acquired businesses into AutoShack’s operations.
  5. Operational Finance:
    • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial control systems.
    • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure operational efficiency.
    • Oversee and optimize budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and financial targets.
  6. Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and accountability.
    • Collaborate with other executive team members to drive overall business performance and support strategic decision-making.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO on financial matters.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA or CFA is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in senior financial management roles, with a strong background in retail, e-commerce, or related industries.
  • Extensive experience in corporate finance, budgeting, mergers and acquisitions, and taking companies public.
  • Proven track record of leading financial strategies that drive business growth and profitability.
  • Strong understanding of capital markets, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Hands-on experience in managing financial operations in a fast-paced, multi-faceted business environment.
  • Exceptional computer skills, particularly in financial modeling, reporting, and analysis tools.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Conservative mindset with a focus on long-term financial stability and risk management.
