OVERVIEWLauren Services is looking for an Electrical EIT responsible for producing studies and layouts of equipment and electrical systems, which meet client specifications. Familiar with industrial oil and gas facility electrical design including single lines, area classification, power system studies, control panel design, instruments loop diagrams, junction box layout and power design. Should be able to read a set of PIDs and extract information from them for electrical design. You will work directly with other disciplines to gather information for project design and provide direction and coordination of electrical design for medium to large projects in Oil & Gas, Power and Petro-Chemical.
ACCOUNTABILITIES- Perform various tasks of varied complexity, including preparation of plans, designs, calculations, costs and bills of material, catalogues, in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings or other specifications.
- Provide high-quality, leading-edge engineering solutions to the oil and gas industry for our clients.
- Design oil and gas processing facilities, develop electrical specifications, make material selections and has exposure to different types of electrical equipment.
- Has experience with various MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, switchgear and other electrical equipment regarding specifying, and designing.
- Execute the scope of engineering work, schedules, and budgets for the assigned project elements, monitors progress to maintain schedules and budgets.
- Assist in development of total install cost estimates, develop material specifications, data sheets, and material lists.
- Check drawings and plan for technical completeness.
- Review vendor information for technical information.
- Review technical information for electrical designs.
- Assemble contract documents for field construction phase of projects.
- Evaluate proposals contracts for field construction.
- Authenticate drawings for field construction.
- Deal directly with client on related project issues.
- Provides technical support during construction with field electrical contractor for construction management issues.
- Coordinate and work with other disciplines, project managers and directly with our clients.
- May give direction to drafting personnel and other less senior electrical engineers.
- Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to drafting and engineering management.
- Adhere to policies and procedures relating to health and safety and quality management.
- Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility.
- Possess excellent verbal communication skills and a good understanding of work-related documents.
- Is experienced in applicable industry codes and regulations such as CEC.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 2-5 years of formal training and experience in engineering design or EPCM projects in the oil and gas or related industry.
- Project Management experience not required, but an asset.
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed as an EIT in either BC or AB, licenses in both an asset.
- 1-3 years experience with PLS-CADD.
- Must live in Kelowna and area or want to relocate.
- Transmission and distribution experience a strong asset.
- Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must possess engineering skills and be capable of interacting with all engineering disciplines.
- Must be familiar with applicable codes, standards, and acceptable industry practices, etc.
- Must have excellent communication skills and be capable of interacting with peers, project managers, site managers and clients.
- Must be capable of working in a team of engineers, designers.
- Familiarity with other aspects of project design including DBMs, project plans and scheduling in terms of electrical input would be an asset.
This is an in-office role 5 days a week. The compensation range for this role is $30-55/hour depending on experience and education.
