Our client is searching for a Volunteer Specialist to join their team. This role will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive volunteer strategy to support events and overall operations. A successful candidate will play a vital part in fostering positive relationships with volunteers and ensuring their seamless integration into the initiatives. This role reports directly to the Director of Experience.

Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer strategy to support the signature events and general operations
  • Administer the Volunteer Management Program, including recruitment, screening, orientation, and ongoing support for volunteers
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records, track volunteer hours, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities to enhance volunteer engagement and integration within the initiatives
  • Collaborate with the People team to provide training and development opportunities for volunteers
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate volunteer activities and optimize volunteer contributions
  • Provide logistical volunteer support for the signature events, including scheduling, coordination, and communication with volunteers
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and identify areas for improvement in volunteer management processes
  • Support recruitment efforts for both employees and volunteers, including orientation and onboarding processes
  • Assist with day-to-day People functions and activities
  • Maintain employee records in the HRIS System
  • Provide guidance on People and Volunteer policies, best practices, and processes
  • Foster positive relationships with employees and address issues as they arise
  • Contribute to the Compensation Framework through position descriptions and evaluations
  • Handle benefits administration
  • Prepare invoices for approval and processing

Your strengths include:

  • Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Volunteer Management or non-profit management, coupled with post-secondary education in Human Resource Management
  • 5+ years experience in volunteer, special event management, or volunteer coordination
  • 2+ years of Human Resources experience
  • Proven ability to apply Human Resources principles to various situations within the employee lifecycle to a wide audience and provide guidance and advice on policy and procedure interpretation
  • Experience in full cycle recruitment, payroll, benefits, leave management processes and best practices for all
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant employment legislation and application
  • Experience in volunteer management software
  • Experience administrating a HRIS System
  • Professionalism at all times, discretion, and sound judgement in dealing with sensitive and confidential employee information and work related matters
