YOUTH MENTOR POSITION (Part-Time)


Evergreen a United Neighbourhood is currently accepting resumes for the position of Youth Mentor (Part-Time). The purpose of the Youth Mentor (Part-Time) is to provide support and guidance within a cultural framework for at neighbourhood youth aged 10-13.  


DESCRIPTION:

·        Supports development and implementation of youth activities for scheduled and drop-in programming activities.

·        Supports in mentoring youth participants through means of one-on-one rapport building and providing referrals to services.

·        Plans and attends special events and actively participates in activities.

·        Implements safety procedures and ensures standards are met in all phase’s programming/operation.

·        Assists the Executive Director in administrative duties such as planning of program activities, purchase of supplies, social media support, etc.

·        Ensures site is cleaned and organized ahead of participant arrival.

·        Actively participate in training opportunities as required.

·        Develops and maintains positive working relations with other staff, volunteers and community contacts.

·        Performs other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

·        Secondary school diploma an asset; may consider high school students who are actively attending/participating.

·        Proven leadership experience

 Skill/Abilities:

·        Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

·        Self-starter with proven organizational and time management skills.

·        Ability to analyze, problem solve and make decisions.

·        Responsibility, enthusiasm, creativity, initiative, motivation, and willingness to learn.

·        Proven ability to function and contribute as an effective team member.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

·        Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).

·        Must have or be willing to obtain and maintain a Standard First Aid and CPR-C certificate.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

·        Part-time in nature

·        Irregular hours (includes evenings and maybe some weekends)

·        20 hours weekly opportunity to increase may be an option
