Description

The Project Buyer will monitor market conditions and purchase when prices are favorable. He/she will study trends to identify and resolve potential supply chain issues.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Ensure supply of materials based on customer requirements at the lowest cost while ensuring quality and on-time delivery.
  • Engage procurement and suppliers early in the product development/manufacturing process and monitor current products to minimize overall costs.
  • Develop and execute cost reduction strategies in collaboration with the Strategic Sourcing Manager.
  • Ensure a continuous flow of new suppliers for the commodity.
  • Conduct periodic business reviews with key suppliers.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Draft proposals to manage contracts and negotiations.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure a stable supply chain.
  • Evaluate market conditions to mitigate risk, maintain optimal inventory levels, and control costs.
  • Drive supplier performance, contract effectiveness, collaboration, and integration.
  • Develop and solicit RFPs, analyze submissions, and form recommendations for review with the Program Management Team.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Strategic Sourcing Manager.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in procurement, contract management, and supplier development.
  • A growth mindset with a passion for learning.
  • Organized and technically savvy, with a knack for generating solutions.
  • Understanding of contract language.
  • Experience in sourcing parts for product development.
  • Understanding of basic inventory management concepts.
  • Knowledge of logistics (Incoterms, transport modes, transport times).
  • Advanced spoken and written bilingualism (French – English).
