Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction project estimations from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.
  2. Oversee the estimation of large commercial projects valued at CAD $50 Million+.
  3. Develop and execute a project strategy that meets the project’s required performance, schedule and profitability targets. Meet or exceed these targets.
  4. Supervise the bid process by driving and communicating strategies to the project team to help win bids.
  5. Manage the development of preliminary budgets, cost plans and value engineering exercises.
  6. Lead internal construction project start-up meetings and administrative project set up.
  7. Manage the development of procurement plans, labour and equipment forecast, logistics plan and site workflow, project risk register, and project execution plan (PEP).
  8. Prepare and manage project budgets during the design phase.
  9. Ensure that constructability is addressed before sub-trade tendering.
  10. Oversee the tendering, risk assessment and award of sub-trade contracts.
  11. Identify, address and resolve issues and problems as or before they occur.
  12. Contribute current cost and productivity information for SAP upload sheet.
  13. Develop the assigned project team members with the help of the division/branch management team, including the acquisition of new talent, continuous positive and constructive feedback, and the assessment of non-performing employees.

Required Skills:

  1. 10 years’ experience in a similar capacity of Cost Consultant or Estimator including a full range of project delivery methods including lump sum, construction management and design build.
  2. Experience working with estimating software programs.
  3. Possess a project management portfolio with large commercial and institutional projects (valued over CAD $50 Million) as well as P3 buildings.

Required Education:

  1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
