Who are we looking for:

We are looking for a Regional Manager - FE to lead and drive excellence within our Ontario-based Field Evaluation (FE) team. This position involves managing a team of approximately 28 professionals, ensuring smooth daily operations, and maintaining high-quality standards in certification services across the province. As Regional Manager, you’ll oversee regional budgets, support business development, and directly interact with clients to guide our certification processes. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely for administrative tasks, with occasional travel within Ontario for on-site evaluations.

What you will do:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Oversee day-to-day operations for a team of approximately 28 FE professionals, providing guidance and support to foster development and operational success.
  • Budget & Forecasting: Manage the Ontario regional budget for FE operations, including preparing annual and monthly revenue forecasts to meet corporate objectives.
  • Client Engagement: Serve as Ontario-based clients' primary point of contact, addressing inquiries about the FE program and certification requirements.
  • Project Coordination: Plan and coordinate field activities within Ontario, including working with external contractors/subcontractors for specialized FE needs.
  • Customer Relations: Handle client feedback and resolve complaints to maintain high satisfaction within the Ontario region.
  • Leadership Support: Assist senior leadership in defining goals, performance objectives, and metrics to execute strategy, ensuring accountability for both team and self.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review and recommend enhancements for the handling and delivering Field Evaluation Services. Update and request changes to documented procedures as necessary.
  • Staff Development: Identify staff training needs and clarify procedures and requirements; provide ongoing coaching and leadership to the operations team.
  • Customer Support & Quality Assurance: Handle customer complaints regarding Field Evaluation work and ensure all activities comply with applicable policies and QA standards.
  • Compliance & QA: Work with corporate QA to resolve non-conformance issues and ensure all activities comply with industry standards and internal policies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Interface with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) on Field Evaluation matters, addressing inquiries related to labelled equipment within the region.
  • Client & Site Interaction: Address client issues, participate in factory inspections as needed, and engage in leadership activities and training.
  • Additional FE Support: Assist with other Field Evaluation-related tasks as required to ensure operational efficiency and client satisfaction.

What Do You Need to Succeed:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred), Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist (CET), or Fully Certified Electrician.
  • Experience: At least 5 years in product testing and safety evaluation, ideally in a TIC (Testing, Inspection, and Certification) setting. Prior experience as a manager within an inspection body is an asset.
  • Skills: Strong project management, client-facing skills, and proven leadership experience in a matrixed environment. Strong knowledge of Field Evaluation process and regulatory requirements.
