Financial Controller Join a Development company based out of Mississauga, Ontario as a Controller.

Our client is a boutique development company that specializes in mid-to-high rise residential condominiums in the Greater Toronto Area.

As the Controller, you will oversee all aspects of corporate accounting operations for the company. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance and Accounting, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring precise financial reporting, adherence to accounting standards, and streamlining financial processes.

The Controller is responsible for daily accounting operations including payroll, taxation, accounts receivable/payable, generating periodic financial statements and reports, maintaining reliable accounting records, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Lead and manage the corporate accounting team, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.
Recruit, train, supervise, mentor, and develop the corporate accounting team.
Manage the general ledger and accounting software systems to maintain accurate financial records.
Ensure accuracy of financial data and oversee proper bookkeeping practices.
Manage payroll processing, including deductions, reconciliations, and compliance with statutory requirements.
Coordinate timely completion of tax filings and government reporting (e.HST, Income Tax, WSIB, EHT, T5, T4).
Oversee treasury functions and monitor cash positions across entities.
Ensure accurate chargeback processes and intercompany reconciliations.
Assess accounting operations continuously, propose improvements, and implement processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Design and maintain accounting and internal control systems and procedures.
Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial analyses.
Financial Statements, AR/AP aging reports, payroll reports, cash flow tracking reports).
Provide financial analysis as required.

University degree in Accounting, CPA or CGA accreditation.
Over 10 years of accounting experience, preferably within the real estate industry.
More than 5 years of experience managing accounting teams.
At least 3 years of experience in payroll management and tax compliance.
Experience in preparing and filing taxes, and liaising with CRA and external accounting firms.
Proficiency in Excel and accounting software.
Strong leadership qualities and collaborative team spirit.
