Human Resource Business Partner (Temporary)

Background and The Role:

FuseSocial is a social profit agency located in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and its mission is to strengthen the Wood Buffalo social profit sector. We strengthen social profits through education, development, innovation and collaboration opportunities that are accessible and relevant.

FuseSocial has developed a shared service model for the social profit sector of Wood Buffalo that incorporates a mixture of staff supported services and consultant support services. One of the services provided is Human Resources support.

Position Title: Human Resource Business Partner, Shared Services

Reporting to: Operations Director

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The FuseSocial Shared Services Human Resource Business Partner will be responsible for working with assigned community benefit agencies to provide in-depth expertise on Human Resources, including strategic advisory support, employee investigation support, salary and benefit planning, human resource policy and procedure development and/or support, training facilitation, job description review and/or development, employee relations, interviewing, hiring, and offers, and other HR needs of the clients of Shared Services.

In order to be effective in this role, you will have a proven track record of fostering and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with operational leaders and HR networks. You are adaptable and flexible with the ability to prioritize and multitask while working effectively independently in collaboration with others in a fast-paced and progressive environment. You will identify client needs, assess requirements, and identify solutions to non-standard issues and requests.

The ability to prioritize client needs and flex working hours when required is an important aspect of this position.

Your Qualifications:

  • An Undergraduate Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in a progressively responsible role as HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, HR Advisor
  • CPHR Designation is considered an asset and the successful candidate will be required to complete while employed with available funds to support
  • Knowledge of HR best practices in full cycle recruitment, employee relations, compensation, performance management, orientation, workforce planning
  • Customer Service orientation and results-focused, “what is possible” attitude
  • Ability to flex working hours to suit client demands when required
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with multiple stakeholders and confidential/sensitive information
  • Strategic outlook to support the objectives and goals for numerous community benefit sector organizations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, as required
  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian Human Rights Act, and Employment Standards (AB)
  • Experience in a Unionized environment will be considered an asset
  • Must possess and maintain an Alberta class 5 driver’s license, own a registered motor vehicle and provide a valid copy of registration and insurance
  • Must complete a criminal record check after hire

Additional Required Qualifications:

Effective communicator with strong analytical skills, organizational skills, influential skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to facilitate change and comfortable managing in ambiguity. A strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve common goals.

Experience in managing projects of different scope, magnitude, and significance. Demonstrated experience in performance management, labour relations, policy interpretation, Human Rights Legislation, and investigations.

Work Hours & Environment

This is a temporary (12 months) full-time position (75 hours bi-weekly) located in Fort McMurray, AB.

FuseSocial offers a high-flex work environment after your first 90 days; however, the successful candidate must reside in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) and must have the ability to attend in-person office work, client offices located in RMWB, and community-based events/programming as deemed necessary.

Compensation

Starting at $44.00 per hour based on years of direct experience and education. Please note your salary expectations in your cover letter.
