INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Production Engineer to join our team of production engineers. As a Production Engineer, you will be responsible for troubleshooting day to day production issues, identifying opportunities for improvement, and working with our operators to streamline production processes.

This role is essential in ensuring our success, as you will collaborate with capital and manufacturing engineers as well as plant management to enhance plant efficiency and product quality. As a key member of our team, you will provide critical support in ensuring high-quality production throughput and safe machinery and plant operations. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitoring quality control checks to ensure products and processes conform to established standards. 
  • Designing and implementing controls to optimise product yield and quality while increasing production efficiency
  • Recommending equipment and layout improvements, as well as refining production methods and material handling procedures
  • Making recommendations for cost-saving initiatives and innovative solutions.
  • Collaborating with production and maintenance staff on planning and operational matters related to production, quality, and safety
  • Generating reports as needed, evaluating various aspects of production and operational efficiency
  • Designing, engineering, and developing new components, products, plant, and equipment as required
  • Developing and testing product and process improvements, assessing results, and recommending changes to specifications or plans as necessary
  • Maintaining compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards, as well as good housekeeping practices
  • Adhering to the company's Code of Conduct and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and workplace safety policies
  • Performing any other work-related duties as requested by the department manager

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, particularly within manufacturing or a similar industrial environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills; innovative thinking is a plus.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and workplace safety policies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
