Your Moneris Career - The Opportunity

The Java Developer designs, develops, implements, and supports back-end software components for mission-critical payment processing platforms. You will work with technical leads, other developers, QA specialists, SRE, and the product owner in an agile manner to create quality applications. This developer will also work with the Software Development leadership team to help make architectural recommendations and decisions on various software platforms.

Location: You will be based in our Montreal office and will work in a hybrid model.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Manager, Software Development and Architecture.

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do

  • Design, development, unit testing, implementation, and support of Java-based back-end components dealing with large volumes of sensitive data in a real-time environment.
  • Creation, maintenance, and support of secure, high-quality code components.
  • Collaboration with other developers, QA specialists, system support specialists, and other team members to integrate components and implement/support a functional solution in an Agile environment.
  • Work with Database Administrators on Database design to ensure optimal performance.
  • Create tickets in Jira with detailed technical specifications.
  • Maintain documentation on complex information using data flow diagrams.
  • Conduct proof of concepts of new technologies and design patterns to help make architectural decisions for software platforms.
  • Contribute to sprint planning and other Agile ceremonies.

Your Moneris Career - What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing production-scale applications in Java.
  • Experience in development and testing of XML & JSON-based APIs.
  • Experience with Microservices architecture and Java Spring Boot framework.
  • Experience in Microsoft SQL Server or an equivalent RDBMS.
  • Experience in Kubernetes and Docker is an important asset.
  • Experience with in-memory storage and messaging bus components such as Redis and Kafka is an important asset.
  • Experience in Cloud services and solution development in Microsoft Azure (considered an asset).
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps concepts, including tools such as GitLab, Nexus, Ansible, and Jira.
