Description

Located out of our Calgary office, the individual in the Specialist, Heartland Commercial role will report to the Director, Supply and Commercial Operations for the Heartland Petrochemical Complex (HPC). The Specialist, Heartland Commercial will manage commercial needs for HPC’s Central Utility Block (CUB).

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

• Lead strategic commercial initiatives and opportunities for CUB
• Conduct sound analysis, and develop recommendations for decision-making
• Develop, plan, and execute commercial strategies
• Manage long-term multi-faceted commercial agreements, and ensure all obligations are met
• Review commercial inputs and contract terms with great attention to detail to ensure accuracy
• Apply critical thinking in managing and resolving complex matters as part of a team
• Interpret and analyze contract terms and conditions, and work collaboratively with team members/internal stakeholders to determine next steps
• Prepare and conduct commercial negotiations individually and/or as part of a team
• Develop and process amendments as necessary
• Understand and have detailed working knowledge of how agreement terms impact financials
• Develop, maintain, and report on monthly CUB KPIs
• Develop sound presentation and reporting materials for Management and Executives
• Forge, foster and maintain strong relationships with commercial counterparties
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with CUB Operations team
• Work closely with CUB Operations to ensure alignment on all matters
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of cogeneration units
• Comprehensive working knowledge of Alberta natural gas and power markets
• Collaborate with several internal groups, such as legal, accounting, operations, credit and/or regulatory to develop viable solutions
• Ensure all leaders and stakeholders are kept abreast of issues, progress, and status; escalate issues as necessary
• Actively take on/lead ad-hoc projects through to completion; enhance work flows as part of continuous improvement initiatives
• Resolve issues in a timely manner

Education, Skills and Experience:

• Strong commercial & technical acumen

• Engineering University Degree with MBA would be an asset
• Commercial-related experience required, ideally in the oil & gas industry
• 15+ years’ previous experience in similar role


Hours:
40 hours per week, full-time.
15% travel
