The Opportunity:

Reporting directly to the President, the Manager of People and Culture plays a pivotal strategic role within our clients organization. Our client is a leading civil and environmental consulting firm based out of Peterborough Ontario. This role involves guiding the human resources, administrative, and financial operations to ensure alignment with the company’s broad business objectives. This is a hybrid work model with flexible work hours and in office presence.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Managing the entire Human Resources service delivery value chain to ensure that all areas of Human Resources create value for the business and promote employee retention.
  • The Manager of People and Culture champions the strategic direction for human capital management and development while also overseeing the organization’s business administration, financial, and HR processes.
  • Collaborating with the Senior Management Team to identify and develop long-term strategic priorities and corporate policies and programs.
  • Managing talent recruitment, development, and performance management strategies and related processes to support the organization in developing high-performance people and in meeting its business and financial goals.
  • Developing and supporting initiatives to enhance staff engagement and maintain effective relationships throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Evaluating and ensuring the organization benefits from the services of external service providers by working with external vendors, such as recruiters, payroll providers, and benefit providers, to ensure that services are delivered economically and on time.
  • Providing direction, training, performance management, professional development, and mentorship to the department.
  • Monitoring HR best practices and recommending improvements to add value to the business.
  • Leading organizational cultural strategy development and implementation.
  • Leading training and development programs within the organization.
  • Overseeing administrative support and processes of the organization.
  • Overseeing health and safety requirements of the organization.
  • Acting as management representative on JHSC.
  • Overseeing corporate finance, IT, and facilities resources (via Controller).
  • Developing and managing department budget to support the financial objectives of the organization.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations as it relates to human resources, finance, and administration, and conducting periodic compliance checks.
  • Ensuring effective representation and promotion of the company’s human capital and culture, including its programs and services internally and externally.
  • Promoting the firm’s mission, vision, and values and alignment thereof both internally and externally.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • A 4-year degree in social sciences, business administration, or a related field.
  • A Master of Business Administration (MBA) is considered an asset.
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior management/leadership role.
  • Strategic leadership experience, including board interaction.
  • Proficiency in strategic planning and execution for HR, administration, and finance.
  • Highly effective communication, mediation, and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence and sensitivity in interpersonal interactions.
  • Advanced critical thinking and analytical abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of HR principles and relevant legislation (including the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act Ontario, Ontario Pay Equity Act, and Human Rights Legislation).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, HRIS, and other relevant software.
  • Outstanding time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Commitment to staff privacy and ethical conduct.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Highly collaborative and able to ignite thought-leadership projects.
