The purpose of the Manager BI Engineer role is to support the Senior Manager of BI for the Data Strategy and Analytics team at Scotiabank’s Global Contact Centres in developing project specific analytics capabilities. The Data Strategy and Analytics team is responsible for guiding transformation, building capability for data centric operational management, and align with enterprise strategy for Data. This role will specifically be focused on integrating a new set of data sources to a number of existing reports as we transition from one system to another over a period of time.

Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop data capture, analysis and BI solutions to address operational needs
  • Define metrics / KPIs and develop customer insights models
  • Assist Data strategy and Analytics team with architecture and infrastructure design / development from a requirement perspective
  • Apply analytics tooling, scripts, and methodologies to find actionable insights, build operations models & frameworks, and provide strategic recommendations
  • Develop ETLs for analytics solutions using Power BI
  • Produce ad hoc analyses, deep-dives, and drill downs on specific issues, topics, or areas of opportunity (e.g. process improvements)
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Streamline, enhance and automate existing products to create capacity for team to develop new solutions

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have: 

  • 5+ years business intelligence, analytics, or data science
  • 5+ years business analysis or direct client relationship role
  • 5+ years reporting, UI design, and BI solutioning
  • 5+ years professional data analysis skills and development skills
  • Experience with data modelling, data warehousing and database design a plus
  • Experience with UNIX tools and shell scripting an asset
  • Strong technical navigation skills to determine data sources, interpret technical documentation, and communicate requests and project requirements to IT partners
  • Strong collaboration skills with ability to translate technical knowledge into business value
  • Experience designing requirements for ETL, data pipelines, or product engineering solutions
  • Hands-on experience with Big Data ecosystem tools an asset
  • Experience with cloud architecture (Azure, AWS, GCP) an asset
  • Contact center experience an asset
  • Experience with telephony data (Avaya, Genesys) and WFM data (Verint, Aspect) an asset
  • Education: University degree in science, computer science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience
