Quorum is seeking an Infrastructure Specialist, Team Lead to spearhead our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) efforts - focusing on the stability, security, and scalability of our infrastructure environments across Azure and AWS platforms. This role is instrumental in driving operational excellence, collaborating closely with Software Development teams, and ensuring the seamless integration of automation and monitoring processes for our industry-leading automotive dealership software solutions. With a 75% technical and 25% administrative focus, the ideal candidate will provide both hands-on technical expertise and strong team leadership, with a deep commitment to process optimization and reliability.
Here is what we will expect from you at work:
Infrastructure Management and Provisioning:
Design, build, and maintain secure, robust, and scalable infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and on-premises environments.
Implement best practices for monitoring infrastructure and applications, and ensure availability, performance, and security of systems, including proactive automated alerts and centralized logging.
Manage cloud services on both Azure and AWS, optimizing for performance, cost, and scalability.
Production Infrastructure Stability and Escalation Support:
Ensure the stability and reliability of production environments, including Azure, AWS, and on-premises systems.
Provide timely escalation support for critical production issues, ensuring rapid incident resolution and system recovery.
Participate in on-call rotations and shift work to provide support and escalation as needed.
Monitoring, Optimization, and Automation:
Lead efforts to monitor system performance, conduct regular audits, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Build automated processes to enhance operational efficiency and streamline incident detection and resolution.
Collaborate with the development teams to improve reliability and performance of application environments.
Observability and Telemetry:
Develop and implement observability strategies to gain insights into system performance and health.
Utilize telemetry data to monitor and analyze application and infrastructure metrics.
Ensure comprehensive logging, tracing, and monitoring across all systems to facilitate proactive issue detection and resolution.
Collaborate with development teams to integrate observability practices into the software development lifecycle.
Cybersecurity and Compliance:
Develop and enforce security best practices within on-premises, Azure, and AWS environments.
Regularly assess and deploy cybersecurity measures, identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities.
Collaboration with Development Teams:
Work closely with software development teams to ensure the reliability and scalability of application infrastructure across multiple cloud platforms.
Implement testing tools and strategies for infrastructure environments, supporting the software lifecycle.
Project Planning and Management:
Participate in infrastructure-related projects, from planning to execution, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Participate in the management and prioritization of the team’s work using tools like Jira to track tasks, issues, and project progress.
Process Adherence and Prioritization:
Oversee the team’s adherence to operational processes, including incident management, change management, and escalation protocols.
Ensure proper task prioritization based on business needs, managing work queues, and resolving escalations efficiently.
Mentorship and Team Leadership:
Provide leadership and mentorship to the Infrastructure & NOC team and across the organization, guiding junior staff and fostering a collaborative working environment.
Ensure effective use of team resources to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Conduct regular team meetings, contribute to performance reviews, and facilitate the personal and professional development of team members.
Technical Problem Solving and Incident Management:
Lead technical problem-solving efforts, identifying root causes of issues, and implementing long-term fixes.
Conduct post-mortem reviews for incidents to prevent recurrence and ensure continuous improvement.
Documentation and Reporting:
Ensure comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and best practices.
Provide regular reporting on system performance, incidents, and key infrastructure projects to stakeholders and senior leadership.
Stay Current with Technology Trends:
Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in SRE, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
Drive innovation and efficiency by proposing new tools, techniques, and processes.
Here is the kind of candidate we are looking for:
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Technical Expertise:
5+ years of experience managing AWS application environments
Strong knowledge of AWS IAM, VPCs, EC2, RDS, ECS, ELB, Lambda, CloudWatch, GitHub, and cloud security practices.
Proficiency in scripting and automation using AWS CLI and Terraform.
Leadership Experience:
3+ years of experience in a supervisory role, overseeing team activities and guiding performance.
Proven experience in managing work prioritization and team workflows using tools like Jira.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and lead incident resolution efforts.
Certifications:
Certifications in AWS and Microsoft Azure are highly desirable.
Additional Requirements:
