Location: Saint John

Salary Range: $2,058.00 to $2,900.00 bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $3,167.00 bi-weekly, based on their level of post-secondary education.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Building Engineering Technology or a related field with relevant years of work experience.
  • Candidates must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.), Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), or a Professional Technologist (P. Tech).

Technical Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience with surveying equipment

  • Demonstrated experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and MicroSurvey CAD

Professional Skills:

  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.
  • Self-motivated, service and results oriented.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Assets:

  • Exposure to 3D Terrestrial Scanning, virtual reality hardware and software

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware and software.

  • Five (5) years of recent and related work experience.

  • Experience working in a post-secondary environment.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

Responsibilities

As part of the School of Engineering and reporting to the Academic Chair, the Instructor is responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas may include, but are not limited to:

  • Materials lab - soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt
  • Surveying Technology - total station, GIS, GNSS, RTS
  • Building codes and standards
  • Local building materials
  • 3D modeling - Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Site infrastructure
  • Sanitary and storm systems
  • Water distribution systems
  • Water and wastewater systems
  • Environmental planning and sustainability
  • Highway engineering and design
  • Highway surveying
  • Soil mechanics
  • Geotechnical design
