JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager of Finance and Administration, the Finance Officer is critical to the smooth logistical, financial day to day functions of ITK. This position is responsible for managing the complete accounts payable cycle. The Finance Officer will also provide financial, administrative, and clerical support to the Finance Department and to the organization.This individual must demonstrate a strong attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple demands simultaneously. Respecting timelines and organizational skills are essential for this role.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES ADMINISTRATIVE
  • Prepare reports, records, tables, and related project correspondence and documents as required/Perform other administrative tasks as requested by the Manager/Director/Act as support for the Administrative Department as needed.
FINANCIAL
  • Support the payable process including the authorization and processing of payments
  • Tracking of payments and expenditures, including invoices, statements, POs
  • Maintaining historical records
  • Responding to vendor enquiries regarding finance
  • Preparing analysis of accounts and producing monthly reports
  • Understanding expense accounts, cost centres, ITCs, etc
  • Act as backup for the Finance and Travel Administrator with travel booking, scheduling, and receiving invoices for completed travel and accommodations andassist the Finance and Travel Administrator with reconciliation of invoices, travel claims, credit card statements; and,
  • A certificate in payroll or experience using ADP would be considered and asset.
INTER-RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and abilityto work as part of a team with staff and members of Inuit organizations and sensitive to local, political, and cultural issues.
QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Proficient in all aspects of financial process
  • Excellent financial reporting and analysis skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and prioritize workload with minimal supervision
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment with frequent tight deadlines
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, primarily in English and Inuktitut is considered an asset
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook)
EXPERIENCE
  • 3-5 years in a similar position i.e. finance coordinator or accounts payable Clerk
  • Experience in office administration.
EDUCATION
  • A certificate or diploma in a related field of study i.e. accounting, business administration or another relevant field or any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance is evident.
