Associate Vice-President, Central Overlay Group - Operations

The opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Operations, the Associate Vice President, Central Overlay Group - Operations will be responsible for all trade execution for Wellington-Altus Private Wealth (WAPW), Wellington-Altus Private Counsel (WAPC), and Wellington-Altus USA (WA USA).
The incumbent will oversee a team comprised of portfolio administrators and analysts who are responsible for supporting all trade functions for WAPW, WAPC, WA USA as well as the Wellington-Altus managed account program including portfolio modelling, trading, and client trade requests.
The Associate Vice-President, Central Overlay Group Operations will also support Wellington-Altus discretionary investment advisors with their portfolio modelling requirements ensuring we deliver a superior service level.
Key responsibilities include:
- Portfolio Modelling – Managed Accounts
- Developing and implementing standard operating procedures to support trade administration for Wellington-Altus managed account program(s).
- Overseeing daily functions of portfolio administrators ensuring client portfolios are managed as per target allocation.
- Executing rebalancing based on model updates from Portfolio Managers for Wellington-Altus managed account programs.
- Executing trade requests for WA USA ensuring accurate execution and settlement with the custodian.
- Working collaboratively with project teams to transition the managed account program to a new Portfolio Management system ensuring all requirements identified and team is operationally ready.
- Working with Portfolio Management team to launch and support SMA/UMA and ultimately UMH program.
- Portfolio Manager Support
- Supporting Wellington-Altus discretionary investment advisors with trade execution for their managed accounts.
- Assisting Portfolio Managers with best practice modelling using Enterprise Portfolio Management software.
- Delivering superior service to Portfolio Managers as well as clients within the Wellington-Altus managed account program.
- People Management
- Managing a team of portfolio administrators and analysts ensuring the timely execution of model updates.
- Handling rebalancing and trade requests.
- System Management
- Working with the Envestnet team to manage Portfolio Management software, ensuring it meets the needs of managed platforms, as well as the needs of our Portfolio Managers.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree or diploma in business administration, economics, or equivalent combination of education and experience within the financial services industry.
- 8+ years’ experience within financial services, preferably with SMA/UMA experience.
- Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC).
- CFP and/or CFA designation is a strong asset.
- Experience with Portfolio Management software (EnvestNet is an asset).
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- An ability to demonstrate a high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day-to-day work and long-term goals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a dedication to providing a superior level of service to Wellington-Altus branches & advisory teams.
- An excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills, and an ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
- Strong critical thinking and written and verbal communication skills.
Conditions of employment:
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must be able to travel within Canada 0-5% of the time.
