Transdev Canada is hiring a Manager, Payroll & Benefits at our head office in Calgary 

Your role:

  • Supervise all payroll and benefits functions, including administrative duties, operations, information systems, and compliance to ensure seamless processing.
  • Manage and coach a team of payroll and benefits personnel consisting of technicians, analysts and administrators to support with third party processing.
  • Collaborate with the third-party provider to ensure seamless payroll processing of Transdev Canada West (approximately 2,000 employees) and corporate employees, including accurate calculation of wages, taxes, deductions, and benefits contributions. 
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant employment laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements, ensuring all payroll and benefits practices adhere to these standards.
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, leave policies, and other benefits offerings.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of payroll data to internal stakeholders, executive leaders, and external agencies as required.
  • Manage the resolution of payroll discrepancies, issues, or employee inquiries related to compensation, taxes, deductions, and benefits in collaboration with broader Corporate Services teams.
  • Collaborate with Finance department colleagues to ensure accurate financial reporting and reconciliation of payroll data, including payroll deductions and tax claims.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgetary projections for payroll and benefits expenses, as well as the annual total compensation review campaign.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new payroll and benefits policies and procedures to increase the efficiency of the payroll process.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and data integrity, supporting the updating of employee information.
  • Ensure compliance with end of employment milestones, including electronic transmission of employment records.

Your profile:

  • Minimum 5 years of management experience required , preferably in payroll, benefits, or operations management within the transportation or customer service industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or human resources or other related field.
  • Strong leadership qualities, excellent time management skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven progressive experience in payroll and benefits. 
  • Experience working with collective agreements.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skylls to both identify and lead the team to resolve payroll and benefits issues.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A member of the Canadian Payroll Association, an asset.
  • Ability to communicate in French is an asset.
