Long View is seeking a Linux & Virtualization Consultant to join our Calgary Branch who is enthusiastic about working with our first-rate consultants to help clients solve business problems with technology solutions in the Virtualization Space.
A Day in the Life:- Conduct patching and identifying automation opportunities around maintaining and monitoring Red Hat Linux operating system
- Supporting Virtualization, storage management, and migration
- Supporting VMware vSphere operations and VM installation procedures
- Develop unique strategies to implement, support, and protect software systems, data centers, and servers
- Work within a highly regulated environment and other IT groups
- Support and diagnosis of technical issues involving servers, storage, DNS, and other systems
- Deploy and support for installation of virtual infrastructure
- Manage VMware vSphere environment, which may include network, storage, server infrastructure, application systems, and database systems
- Act as an escalation point on a critical server, virtualization issues for other teams
- Creating and maintaining the virtual server, storage, and data center documentation
- Work closely with the security team to implement security recommendations.
- Participate in the implementation of network and system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware
- Recommend the implementation of new technologies and processes
- Participate in recommending changes to improve systems and such changes
- 4+ years of experience working with virtualization and Windows server technologies
- 4+ years of experience working with Linux operating system (Red Hat), conducting patching, recommending automation, monitoring and maintaining improvements
- Ability to implement, and support IT virtualization and storage infrastructure
- Advanced technical knowledge of VMware virtualization stack
- Experience working with: RedHat
- Ability to work with different teams (operations, Network, Cybersecurity, CIP Analysts)
- Ability and willingness to follow the incident, problem, crisis, and change management processes
- Self-motivated and driven attitude – you’re always looking for ways to improve skills and stay relevant in a given area of expertise
