On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking a skilled Business Analyst with finance expertise to support a major financial transformation project. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of financial operations and have experience with Workday ERP implementations. As this role will involve close collaboration with the university’s VP of Finance, the consultant must have a strong understanding of finance to ensure successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Expertise: Provide subject matter expertise across various financial functions, including Financial Accounting & Budgets, Supplier Accounts, Banking & Settlement, Customer Accounts & Contracts, Grants Accounting, Endowment Accounting, Business Assets, and Procurement.
  2. ERP Implementation: Lead the finance workstream of the Workday ERP implementation, ensuring that all financial processes are accurately captured, mapped, and transitioned into the new system.
  3. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the VP of Finance and other senior stakeholders to align project objectives with the university's financial goals and strategies.
  4. Business Process Analysis: Coordinate, facilitate, and document workshops to identify and design future state financial processes using Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN) and process narratives.
  5. Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with SMEs to capture detailed financial requirements, translating them into functional and technical specifications that meet project needs.
  6. Data Management: Oversee data cleansing, mapping, and migration activities for finance-related data, ensuring accuracy and integrity throughout the transition.
  7. Quality Assurance: Support the QA process by developing and executing comprehensive test cases, test data, and scripts, with a focus on finance-related modules.
  8. Training & Documentation: Prepare and deliver training materials on finance-related topics, and conduct knowledge transfer sessions to ensure a smooth handover to the operational teams.
  9. Project Communication: Facilitate clear and consistent communication across project teams, stakeholders, and vendors, ensuring alignment and progress toward project milestones.
  10. Risk Management: Identify and escalate risks and issues related to the financial workstream, working with the Project Manager to develop mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. Extensive experience in financial operations, with a focus on ERP implementations, preferably Workday.
  3. Strong understanding of financial processes within an academic environment is an asset.
  4. Proven ability to lead finance-related projects, with a strong track record of delivering results.
  5. CBAP or PMI-PBA certification preferred.
  6. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  7. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  8. Proficiency in MS Office, including Microsoft Visio, with a strong aptitude for data analysis and financial reporting tools.

Hourly rate: $75-85/hour.
