POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Inventory and Asset Protection, the Inventory and Asset Protection Coordinator – DC is responsible for managing all inventory control related activities at the Edmonton Distribution Centre and yard as well as for the 3rd Party Warehouse facilities. This role ensures that inventory control procedures at DC are executed appropriately to high levels of inventory accuracy and efficient resolution of shipping discrepancies for the store and agency network. Other accountabilities include investigation of inventory variances, suggesting operational improvements for the DC, collaborating with DC operations on receiving and picking strategies and partnering with store network to investigate and resolve discrepancies.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Adhere to inventory management processes in Asset Protection, and audit SOPs, to result in improved inventory accuracy at DC and 3rd Party Warehouse facilities, completing all inventory movement, carrying out thorough investigations on all inventory variances to understand root cause of variance and work with site staff to create corrective actions.
  • Investigate and resolve all shipping errors reported from Farm Store/Agent locations from orders originating at the Edmonton DC or 3rd Party Warehouse facilities.
  • Work collaboratively with DC management on processes (picking, shipping, cycle counting, warehouse slotting) needed to ensure inventory accuracy. Maintain inventory accuracy in partnership with 3rd party warehouses; ensure process compliance to ensure accuracy and mitigate risk including but not limited to variance counts and physical inventory verifications.
  • Take a strong role in the preparation for the yearly DC Wall to Wall Inventory (DC-W2W) and take the lead in performing site recounts following DC-W2W in both the Edmonton Distribution Centre and 3rd Party Warehouse Facilities. Collaborate with DC Management and the Supervisor to create and implement post DCWWI activities.
  • Provide training and coaching to new and warehouse staff on the policies and procedures regarding inventory management control. Clarify processes or policies rolled out by the Asset Protection and/or Operations Team. Maintain training documentation for warehouse employees.
  • Create recounts, coordinate inventory verifications, and other necessary tasks related to inventory control duties. Compile and perform analysis of shrink and other data and report to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy in partnership with 3rd party warehouses; ensure process compliance to ensure accuracy and mitigate risk including but not limited to variance counts and physical inventory verifications.
  • Update and maintain all required Asset Protection documentation in collaboration with iRep network; partner with network to create, implement or update documentation to meet the changing needs of UFA.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in business, or inventory / operations management.
  • Relevant professional qualification and/or suitable background experience in inventory management.
  • Detailed understanding of inventory control systems gained through 3 - 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple operational teams to get buy-in to both the importance of inventory management and the performance of key tasks by all on site.
  • Working knowledge of SAP’s inventory management module and proficient MS Office Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work productively, efficiently, and effectively with initiative and drive while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Agriculture or AgriBusiness background, interest, and aptitude are an asset.
