Job Summary The Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) represents nearly 100,000 REALTORS® who are members of the 23 real estate boards throughout the province. OREA’s goal is to keep the dream of home ownership alive in Ontario and its mission is to help REALTORS® succeed in building strong communities. OREA delivers on that mission by providing services that assist its members in their day‑to‑day business practices, such as Standard Forms, Government Advocacy, and Leadership Training. OREA reaches a wide variety of audiences, including consumers, media, policy makers, real‑estate leaders, the provincial regulator, and other associations. OREA is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its legal team. Reporting directly to the General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer, the Legal Counsel will review, negotiate, and draft a broad range of commercial contracts (including procurement of services and IT‑related agreements), prepare reports for OREA’s Board and committees, and draft and interpret OREA and Board by‑laws. The role will also support the AGM process and provide legal advice and guidance to the OREA Board of Directors and the organization. This full‑time position is office‑based at OREA’s head office near Don Mills and York Mills Road in North York. Responsibilities • Review, negotiate, and draft commercial contracts, including procurement and IT agreements.• Prepare reports for the Board and committees.• Draft and interpret by‑laws and legal documents.• Support AGM processes.• Provide legal advice and guidance to the Board of Directors and organization. Qualifications • 4–6 years of corporate and commercial experience from a reputable law firm or corporation.• Experience with not‑for‑profit organizations is preferred.• Strong negotiation, drafting, and problem‑solving skills.• Team player with a positive attitude and client‑service approach.
