Island Health is seeking Family Physicians to join a supportive and congenial team providing unattached inpatient care at CRG on Northern Vancouver Island. This group functions similarly to a Hospitalist program. CRG is affiliated with the University of British Columbia and the Strathcona Site Family Practice Residency Program, providing opportunities for teaching. Campbell River General (CRG) in Campbell River, British Columbia, is a 105‑bed acute‑care hospital established in October 2017. Currently, CRG has a blend of family practice groups and inpatient care lines, each physician admitting and managing their own patients. Each physician provides care for approximately 17–25 patients. Shift lengths are five to seven days, and scheduling is flexible. Responsibilities include providing family medicine care to unattached and unassigned inpatients at CRG, being on home‑call overnight, and, when available, working with a UBC resident. The physician will report to the Division Head of Family Practice for professional responsibilities. The physician will work alongside colleagues in anesthesia, emergency medicine, community family medicine, geriatric psychiatry, general surgery, internal medicine (general and sub‑specialty covering the six‑bed ICU), obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedics, palliative care, pediatrics, radiology (US, CT, MRI, echo), and addictions medicine. Established links exist with tertiary care centres one hour away in Nanaimo and 2½ hours away in Victoria. Remuneration is comprised of admission bonuses and fee‑for‑service billings. Start date: As soon as possible. Compensation & Benefits Compensation type: fee‑for‑service Remuneration: admission bonuses and fee‑for‑service billings Additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including: Recruitment incentive: up to $10,000, prorated based on FTE Relocation funding: up to $15,000, based on location of relocation Flat fee: $9,437.76 Retention premium: 6.09% Continuing medical education (CME): $2,200 per annum for years 3–4 and $4,400 per annum after year 4 of community practice Community Information Campbell River has an approximate population of 36,000 and is a beautiful coastal town in the heart of the North Island. Services include exploring trails, whale‑watching, and seafood.
