Labourer - Maintenance Operations (RFT) This posting is for future Regular Full-Time and Temporary Full-Time positions within Maintenance Operations. Positions will be located at any of the following Maintenance Operations Depots: Location: Ajax/Pickering: 2020 Salem Road AjaxOrono: 3480 Taunton Road OronoOshawa/Whitby: 825 Conlin Road WhitbyScugog: 10 Goodwood Road Port PerrySunderland: S995 River Street Sunderland Labourer - Maintenance Operations (Regular Full-Time/Temporary Full-Time) The incumbent will: - Assist in the repair, inspections and maintenance of water, sewer and road systems- Operate tandem and single axle vehicles to perform winter maintenance activities- Perform shift, standby duty and overtime work and can respond quickly- Perform other related duties as assigned Applicants will: - Possess a Grade 12 diploma- Have a valid Ontario Class 'D' Licence or higher with 'Z' endorsement and in good standing- Have previous experience working with the various installation and repair procedures for the roads, water and sewersystems including winter maintenance activities- The ability to maintain neat and accurate records- The ability to deal effectively with the public and to work co-operatively with co-workers- Be capable of heavy lifting, bending and twisting For Regular Full-Time positions: Candidates who do not possess a Class I Water Distribution Certificate and a Class I Wastewater Collection Licence are eligible to apply but must write and pass the required Level 1 exams within 1 year of date of hire. Labourer Hourly Rates - Start Rate: $33.93 - Job Rate: $34.93 Conditions of Employment All applicants are expected to comply with the Region of Durham's Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct Policies throughout the recruitment process. Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will be required prior to start date. A current Driver's Abstract will also be required.
