Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Database Management: Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure cloud databases that store experimental data, logs, and other critical lab information.
  • Cloud-Lab Integration: Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure for reliable communication between lab equipment and cloud systems, implementing features like device health checks, operational logging, and performance monitoring.
  • Web Server and Protocol Expertise: Manage web server operations, ensuring robust and efficient communication protocols are in place to support data flow between on-premise and cloud systems.
  • IT Security: Design and enforce security policies and best practices, focusing on cloud security, encryption, and data protection across our cloud ecosystem.
  • Automated Security Monitoring: Set up automated code scanning and vulnerability assessments (e.g., using GitHub Enterprise and other tools) to ensure secure code deployment and adherence to industry standards.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Draft and maintain comprehensive security documentation, keeping the team aligned with regulatory and compliance requirements.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud infrastructure, ideally in Microsoft Azure (AWS or GCP are acceptable)
  • Strong experience of SQL databases and related concepts, with hands-on experience in cloud-based relational database systems (e.g., Azure SQL Database, PostgreSQL).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IoT concepts, including device management, data
  • streaming, and cloud-to-device communications, particularly in automated lab or scientific settings
  • Deep understanding of web server operations, communication protocols (e.g., HTTP/HTTPS, MQTT), and data streaming concepts.
  • Proficiency in cloud security practices, encryption standards, and data protection strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and enforcing security policies and best practices for data management and cloud systems.
  • Experience with automated security tools, including code scanning and vulnerability checks, preferably using GitHub Enterprise or similar platforms.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with scientists and engineers.
