MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR - MECHANICAL

Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to join the Maintenance team to contribute to the organization's value creation capabilities. This role offers a fast-paced working environment and opportunities for career development within our growing organization The Maintenance Mechanical Supervisor will be part of a maintenance team of four supervisors whom report directly to the Maintenance Manager. The Mechanical trades team consists of one Machinist and 11 Millwrights/Industrial Mechanics.

Based in Brandon, Manitoba, we synthesize and blend nitrogen, phosphate, and sulfur products with ammonia, which we market primarily in the prairie provinces of Canada and the northern United States. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, we employ approximately 270 dedicated team members. Our fundamental commitment to safety, health, and environmental stewardship drives all our processes.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee the performance, training and safe conduct of the Millwright, Machinist, Heavy Duty Mechanic and RV Technicians
  • Be instrumental in developing and maintaining the highest levels of safety within the department
  • Be responsible for maintaining a high standard of housekeeping in applicable work areas
  • Build a high performing team to meet the needs of internal customers by giving feedback and performance management to your direct reports.
  • Ensure your team can meet schedule, and quality goals defined prior to execution.
  • Align the team on the value of precision maintenance including adherence to design specifications, recordkeeping, and developing maintenance procedures
  • Establish and maintain maintenance records, input requisitions for supplies including tools, materials and equipment
  • Manage external contractor use and ensure internal overtime is managed to company expectations.
  • Assist in preparing maintenance reports and preventative maintenance programs for all mechanical maintenance equipment
  • Ensure that maintenance information is maintained and entered into our CMMS system
  • Develop tradespersons to input CMMS information to a diligent level for all jobs, including logs, actual hours, QA/QC reports.
  • Encourage cross departmental interactions between maintenance, operations, and reliability teams.
  • Manage work order backlogs to maintain acceptable levels
  • Develop a maintenance progression program for internal talent development to meet the on-going needs of the business.
  • Develop and maintain schedules, both on-call and vacations
  • Consult with Plant Leadership team and interact with other departments as required
  • Demonstrate initiative, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Perform detailed tasks with satisfactory attitude and job performance
  • Demonstrate organization and time management skills with a high level of integrity and professionalism
  • Demonstrate Strong analytical, critical, economic thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer

  • Unassisted physical mobility in and around plant and equipment
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel as necessary
  • Ability to travel to and enter site to access equipment
  • 10% travel, including air
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Industrial Maintenance supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized setting
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Millwright certification or a related Red Seal certificate OR Bachelor of Science in Engineering in the mechanical field
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (ie. GED)
  • Valid class five (5) driver's license
What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in maintaining & repairing of mechanical processing equipment
  • Experience in industrial maintenance with understanding of mechanical equipment and reliability programs
  • Large Reciprocating Machinery Experience
  • Turbomachinery Experience
