Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) is responsible for coordinating and advancing the province's interests with the Government of Canada, other provinces, and foreign governments at the national and sub-national levels. We serve as a central point of contact for the coordination of the province's intergovernmental priorities and protocol requirements, support to the Ministers responsible for Military Relations, Trade and the operation of Government House.

About Our Opportunity


Reporting to the Private Secretary/Executive Director the Chief Housekeeper will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of Government House (public and private areas). The duties include but are not limited to: cleaning the Administrative Office at Government House, and all public washrooms, vacuuming, laundry, ironing, dusting, washing of floors and dishes, polishing of silver/bronze, and general cleaning within Government House as required. The Chief Housekeeper will be responsible for overseeing, scheduling and directing the Housekeeper, Household Attendant, as well as the training and booking of casual serving staff. In addition to these duties the Chief Housekeeper will also be responsible for maintaining the Government House inventory 

Primary Accountabilities


The Chief Housekeeper will oversee the preparation of service and clean-up following events at Government House along with:

Keeping all staff and storage areas at Government House neat, tidy and orderly Setting of dining room tables and setup of public rooms for events Ensure the safe and proper care of all items involved in the operations of Government House Report any loss, damage or necessary repairs to the Private Secretary Adhere to Government House recycling and composting policies Assist other Household staff in their duties, including the Executive Chef in preparing for events, cleaning dishes and related utensils;


They will treat other members of the Government House staff, as well as visitors to Government House, with respect, courtesy, cooperation and professionalism and representing the Office of the Lieutenant Governor with dignity and confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications and Experience


The successful candidate will be a high school graduate and have two (2) years experience. The Housekeepers must work in a professional manner, and display the highest standard of personal conduct, act with integrity at all times, maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion and be honest and trustworthy. Must be able to prioritize work, manage own workload and resources in a way that ensures the efficient delivery of services. The ability to work variable hours and experience in dealing with the public and senior officials in similar working environments would be considered assets. Flexibility is essential.
