**Job Summary:** Animal Care Attendant required to care for animals in a shelter, maintain a clean and sanitary environment, and provide excellent customer service.

**Job Description:**

The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) is seeking a dedicated Animal Care Attendant to join our team. As an Animal Care Attendant, you will be responsible for:

* Caring for the health and welfare of animals in the shelter
* Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment, including kennel runs and cat cages
* Providing excellent customer service to clients, volunteers, and other staff
* Assisting with front office duties, including telephone reception and adoption procedures
* Performing general office routines and record-keeping
* Collaborating with other shelter personnel to create a positive and harmonious atmosphere

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Maintain a clean and sanitary environment, including kennel runs and cat cages
* Provide animals with a proper diet and ensure they have access to food and water
* Administer medications as specified by the animal health technologist or other authorized shelter staff
* Maintain a high level of standards to portray the image of the BC SPCA as a compassionate and caring organization
* Assist with coordinating volunteer work and supporting the team
* Perform other duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter

**Qualifications:**

* High school diploma or equivalent
* Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract
* Philosophical harmony with the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the BC SPCA
* Demonstrated interest in all aspects of animal welfare
* Sound knowledge of animals, their breeds, characteristics, and common diseases
* Strong desire to provide excellent customer service skills
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with colleagues, customers, and volunteers
* Highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision
* Ability to prioritize demands on time
* Computer experience: Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

* Pay Type: Hourly
* Min Hiring Rate: $20.79
* Max Hiring Rate: $20.79
