Aecon is seeking a Superintendent to provide technical knowledge and expertise to the project team and sub-trades to ensure compliance with all design drawings, engineering standards, codes and specifications.

The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of experience in a supervisory position within the construction industry, with a strong understanding of engineering drawings, documents and site plans. They will also have excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, and strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.

The Superintendent will be responsible for:

  • Promoting and leading a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants
  • Providing guidance to team members by leading safety meetings and inspections
  • Tracking and reporting project, quality control, resource requirements and customer or employee relations to the General Superintendent
  • Overseeing the job site and ensuring Foreperson compliance with all assignments, project policies and procedures
  • Driving quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews
  • Directing foreperson on productivity issues and monitoring the work performance, working with the crews to overcome challenges
  • Following project plans and budgets while ensuring the foreperson and crews perform to meet production goals
  • Understanding the scope and sequencing of work, supporting Foreperson to plan and prioritize the work, effectively redirecting crews and equipment to assigned tasks and minimizing downtime on sites
  • Contributing to the development of a construction plan
  • Supervising multiple crews and subcontractors
  • Developing construction work methods, planning materials, equipment needs and work schedule for civil operations
  • Reviewing daily work schedule and productions with Field Engineers and General Superintendent and updating monthly schedule
  • Reviewing and understanding the projects' plans and specifications to support job set up activities
  • Documenting daily field activities and providing technical input to identify and resolve design problems
  • Determining crew structure for optimal performance on projects
  • Presenting production work plan to crews
  • Working with Quality Staff to coordinate proper inspections and testing for assigned scopes of work
  • Responsible for ordering and coordinating equipment and materials to complete production on budget and schedule
