Relief Assistant Cook

Assist in food preparation and service, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and ensure resident satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain food preparation and service in accordance with approved monthly menus.
- Assist in preparing and serving all menu items, including special luncheons and evening snacks.
- Produce balanced meals economically, minimizing food waste.
- Maintain highest level of hygiene and cleanliness in kitchen, pantry, and walk-in freezer/fridge.
- Ensure proper safety precautions and hygiene standards are followed.
- Assist Head Cook with kitchen duties, including inventory and cleaning.
- Prepare bag lunch meals and evening snacks for residents with special dietary requirements.
- Complete necessary preparations for the following day.
- Treat all clients with respect and dignity.
- Casual position with no guaranteed hours, requiring flexibility in scheduling.
- May work with potentially aggressive clients.
- College diploma or Certificate of Food Management/Preparation, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possess current First Aid, CPR, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificates.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
- Maturity and ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work both independently and under supervision.
- Ability to lift/carry loads up to forty pounds.
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for The Salvation Army's mission and purpose.
