Laboratory Assistant, Pre Post Analysis

Join our team at Provincial Laboratory Medicine Services, a leading provider of laboratory testing in British Columbia.

About the Role

  • Collect and process blood and other specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and handling according to Fraser Health policies.
  • Prepare specimens for analysis, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and distribution to various departments.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as data entry and communication of test results to designated parties.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including temperature checks and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare reagents, media, and specimen collection materials, and distribute as required.
  • Load specimens for analysis on automated and semi-automated equipment.
  • Perform laboratory tests, such as urine dipsticks and glucose tests.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Assist with inventory management and notification of low stock levels.
  • Provide support with ECG testing and other related duties as assigned.

About You

  • Grade 12 diploma and completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety.
