Clinical Educator

This position combines clinical expertise with educational leadership, requiring a skilled Respiratory Therapist to develop and implement educational programs, manage non-invasive ventilation, and provide patient education.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage Non-Invasive Ventilation: Oversee initiation and ongoing management of advanced non-invasive ventilation therapies, including patient assessment, equipment management, and compliance monitoring.
- Oxygen Therapy Administration: Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate oxygen needs, administer and adjust supplemental oxygen as required, and manage the discontinuation of therapy.
- Medication Delivery: Administer and manage nebulized medications as part of comprehensive treatment plans, ensuring effective delivery and patient response.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on effective respiratory practices, including breathing exercises and disease management strategies, to enhance overall respiratory function and well-being.
- Emergency Care: Respond to and manage acute respiratory crises, including severe exacerbations of chronic conditions, ensuring timely and effective intervention.
- Disease Management: Provide education on chronic respiratory diseases, including lifestyle modifications and medication adherence, to improve patient outcomes.
- Assessment and Adjustment: Perform thorough evaluations of respiratory conditions, review and modify treatment plans based on patient progress, and collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient care.
- Program Development & Delivery: Design and implement educational programs and training initiatives to advance respiratory therapy practices, incorporating evidence-based guidelines and adult learning principles.
- Clinical Training: Demonstrate and teach advanced clinical skills, including the management of complex respiratory conditions and the use of various respiratory technologies.
- Support & Improvement: Address clinical issues, support staff development, and recommend improvements to enhance patient care practices and outcomes.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute comprehensive care plans, contribute to policy development, and address clinical performance issues.
- Leadership & Advocacy: Lead initiatives to advance respiratory therapy practices, advocate for professional development, and present findings and knowledge to further the field of respiratory therapy.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contribute to the development of quality indicators, and ensure the implementation of evidence-based practices.
- Policy & Procedure Development: Develop and refine policies and procedures related to respiratory therapy to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Vendor Liaison: Manage relationships with home care and equipment vendors to ensure the effective provision of respiratory services and equipment.
- Graduate of an accredited program for Respiratory Therapy (or equivalent).
- Must be currently licensed by and in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO) for practice in all applicable clinical areas.
- Master's Degree or currently enrolled and completing it within 4 years
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Extensive experience in respiratory therapy, demonstrating advanced clinical skills and expertise in managing a wide range of respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders.
- Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic and fast-paced healthcare environment, with the ability to handle complex and evolving clinical situations.
- Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization abilities to efficiently manage patient care, coordinate with other healthcare professionals, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proven commitment to ongoing professional development and involvement with professional associations, including participation in relevant training and continuing education.
- Experience in educational program development and delivery for respiratory therapy, with a focus on evidence-based practices and adult learning principles.
- Leadership skills to guide and support staff, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and advocate for best practices within the department.
- Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures related to respiratory therapy, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Proficiency in liaising with home care vendors and managing complex equipment needs to ensure seamless patient care and equipment provision.
