Healthcare Social Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will provide a wide range of clinical services to individuals, including screening, assessment, individual counseling, treatment planning, discharge planning, crisis intervention, group programming, case management/navigation, and consultation.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work, and have at least two years of related clinical experience, preferably working with individuals with substance use/gambling concerns and/or mental health. You will also have a high degree of proficiency in screening and risk assessment skills, including suicide risk assessment, and be able to build and maintain collaborative working relationships within healthcare and the community.
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of harm reduction strategies, stages of change theory, and trauma-informed care approaches. You will also have knowledge and experience with brief intervention strategies, solution-focused approaches, motivational interviewing skills, and client engagement strategies. Additionally, you will have a working knowledge of the DSM and experience in utilizing screening and triaging tools.
This is a permanent full-time position, with 75 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate will be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
