Accounting Analyst

Accounting Analyst role requires expertise in treasury accounting, general accounting, and internal customer service.
Spark Power, a leading provider of electrical services, seeks an Accounting Analyst to join its Oakville team. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day and month-end finance and accounting duties related to Spark Power's Western Canadian region. The focus will be on providing excellent internal customer service through regular communication and delivery of essential data to the branches.
The Accounting Analyst will be responsible for:
- Performing weekly and monthly bank reconciliations, including corporate credit cards
- Conducting monthly credit card reconciliations
- Maintaining fixed asset workbooks, calculating, and posting monthly depreciation
- Conducting Balance Sheet variance analysis and month-end balance sheet reconciliation
- Reviewing and posting payroll entries for respective business units
- Preparing sales tax returns for western Canadian businesses
- Regularly reviewing inventory and accrued purchases accounts, investigating discrepancies
- Assisting with Work-In-Progress and Cost of Goods Sold analysis for regional branches
- Assisting with quarterly and year-end audits
- Posting and reviewing journal entries (prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, payroll)
- Maintaining account balances and bank statements
- Managing the general ledger and month-end/year-end close processes, including lease accounting
- Managing group intercompany elimination on a monthly basis
- Overseeing cash flow forecast/actuals at a consolidated level and preparing cash flow reports for internal/external stakeholders
- Maintaining company accounting procedures and processes
- Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements:
- University degree or Diploma in Accounting/Finance
- Strong concepts of accounting fundamentals
- Experience with month-end accounting processes
- Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Ability to work independently
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize assigned tasks
- Demonstrated ability to meet defined deadlines and KPIs
- Eager and career-oriented attitude with a desire to grow professionally
