Career Opportunity

Our Finance Department has an opening for a Field Auditor. Reporting to the Senior Field Auditor - Capital Contracts you will be responsible for representing the Finance department throughout TTC and in all routine contracts with construction contractors, consultants, vehicle suppliers (LRV and train) , and utility authorities for the purpose of auditing, reviewing, and/or approving a variety of contracts and agreements pertaining to capital projects.

What you will do

Analyse and interpret contract terms and conditions, assist in the control of progress payments, change orders, release of holdbacks, contractual retainage, contract closings, lien claims, non-payment disputes, adjudication determinations and other contract matters within the scope of the Finance department. Review changes to standard contract documentation and determine proper authorization and financial impact.

Carry out periodic off site audits assessing work in progress, reporting results and non-compliance findings.

Support the development of the Capital Program.

Work closely with procurement, vehicle programs, project management and legal teams providing guidance and making recommendations related to finance and accounting matters.

Provide corporate yearend reporting.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
  • Completion of post-secondary diploma or university degree or combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Experience in the field of auditing and/or accounting.
  • Sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing practices combined with knowledge of contract administration.
  • Knowledge of the Construction Act, Prompt Payment, Adjudication as it applies to contractual payments, holdbacks, lien claims and other accounting-related matters.
  • Sound knowledge of computerized financial systems, including high level of expertise in IFS, CMS, SAP and demonstrated computer literacy on desktop applications including MS Analysis, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Must be able to analyse labour and material estimates and costs, construction schedules and other standard contract documentation for evaluating progress payments, contract changes and claims.
  • Knowledge of contracting terms and conditions for lien claims, construction holdback, contractual retainage, non-payment contracting disputes and non-resident withholding tax rules.
  • A background in construction project management is highly desirable
  • Must be able to direct and co-ordinate the work of others to accomplish objectives.
  • Experience in a transit/government agency would be an asset.
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
  • A CPA, or equivalent recognized designation is preferred
