Overview:

Allied Universal is on the lookout for a highly responsible Airside Security Guard for Ottawa, Canada. As an officer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the security and safety of the client's property and personnel at the airport. This involves patrolling, monitoring site-specific policies, responding to emergencies, and delivering superior customer service.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, or verifiable employment history of at least 5 years
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English
  • Open availability for shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills for client-specific sites
  • Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently
  • Must have a valid Ontario Security License
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada up to 40 hours a week
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Physically capable of standing or walking for long periods, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting or carrying up to 20 kilograms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP)
  • Previous experience in contract security, military, or law enforcement

Responsibilities Include:

  • Monitoring vehicle traffic and equipment activities to ensure compliance with airport regulations
  • Enforcing proper use of vehicle corridors and addressing violations
  • Reporting waste management issues, wildlife activities, and more
  • Inspecting security systems like doors, cameras, and locks
  • Verifying airport restricted area passes with a mobile card reader
  • Enforcing regulations related to Aeronautics Act and aerodrome rules
  • Assisting with crowd control and public order
  • Operating Explosive Trace Detection Equipment when required
  • Conducting vehicle inspections, ticketing, and report-writing
  • Escorting unauthorized personnel out of restricted areas
