Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor

We are seeking a Part Time Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor to join our team in Chilliwack, B.C.

**Job Description**
The Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor provides individualized employment services to clients recovering from mental illness, seeking competitive employment in an integrated community setting. The Counsellor evaluates clients' vocational needs, develops employment plans, conducts job development and job search activities, and advocates on behalf of the client.
**Key Responsibilities**
• Assess and evaluate clients' vocational rehabilitation needs
• Integrate vocational goals into the mental health treatment plan
• Engage directly with community employers to facilitate access to competitive employment opportunities
• Coordinate client intake into supported employment services
• Conduct job development, direct marketing and job search activities
• Provide ongoing support services to clients related to employment
• Monitor client's progress and provide education and support to employers and other mental health services providers
**Qualifications**
• Bachelor's Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program
• Two years' recent, related experience providing vocational rehabilitation counselling and job marketing/development to individuals with mental illness
• Eligibility for certification as a rehabilitation professional with a recognized association
• Valid B.C. Driver's License - Class 5 and personal vehicle for work-related purposes
**Skills and Abilities**
• Basic counselling skills in working with clients with mental illness
• Demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles
• Demonstrated knowledge of mental illnesses
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Individual Placement and Support Model
• Ability to assess, plan, organize, implement, evaluate and problem-solve
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to work effectively with others, including working effectively in a multicultural environment
