Design Technician

MOBIA Technology Innovations is a Systems Integration company with multiple business unit areas. We are currently recruiting a Design Technician to join our team.

This role plays a crucial part in supporting our design team, collaborating closely with engineers and designers to translate concepts into products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze and organize basic engineering data, evaluating and interpreting field surveys.
  • Design access network facilities in a timely fashion, meeting customer service dates using standard technologies and establishing project milestones.
  • Design engineering drawings and reports to industry standards, including CSA & ESA 22/04.
  • Analyze pole lines for required conductor spacing, separation, clearance and physical element strength under ice and wind loading, using CSA standards.
  • Ensure design drawings and calculation packages are completed by deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Completion of related post-secondary education, such as a Bachelor of Engineering and/or a Diploma in Civil Engineering or Certified Engineer Technologist.
  • Excellent software skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Experience working with Quick Pole and/or SPIDACalc and/or PLS-CADD.
  • Customer Service-focused individuals who take pride in delivering high-quality products.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of Telecommunication outside the plant is an asset.
  • Previous experience in the electrical or telecom field designing aerial and underground networks is an asset.
  • Experience with QGIS and AutoCAD is an asset.
