Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to manage project costs and optimize financial performance for significant projects at the Calgary Airport Authority.

Job Description
The Calgary Airport Authority manages and operates YYC Calgary International Airport and YBW Springbank Airport. We are a team of professionals who are passionate about creating effortless and memorable experiences for millions of guests and travelers each year.

As an Assistant Controller, Project Cost Control, you will play a critical role in ensuring that costs are accurately tracked and reported for these projects. You will be responsible for project cost management, collecting, reviewing, and reporting on detailed project costs. This involves examining vendor invoices, accounting records, preparing financial statements, analyzing cost reports, and reviewing internal control procedures.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Control and monitor project total expenditure, verifying and checking invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors
* Calculate and map out the costs of workers, materials, machinery, and IT infrastructure needed during the project duration
* Analyze invoices to ensure correct products/services were received at the expected cost as per contract
* Identify cost savings opportunities and process improvements
* Provide planning and cost controlling support for all projects, including variation reporting, monitoring of milestone progress, and customer billing processes
* Review project activity scheduling and monitoring cost and billing activities
* Ensure effective project implementation and utilize productive reports from the creation of work breakdown structure (WBS) with the use of project management system
* Coordinate and work with the project management team to resolve project issues
* Perform project costing related reporting to the team and management's review on a monthly basis
* Provide cost control and planning advice to internal departments as required
* Manage project financial activity, monitoring purchase requests and follow-up
* Coordinate and work with the business units and supply chain management team to resolve project issues

**Requirements:**

* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
* Master's degree is considered an asset
* Proven experience in project cost control, financial management, or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years of experience
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts to diverse stakeholders
* Proficiency in project management tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and Oracle ERP
* Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and industry best practices related to project cost management
