Job Description:

  • Ensure efficient delivery of financial, administrative, and clerical services in processing NIHB claims.
  • Comply with established organizational policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and process NIHB claims, create records, and adhere to Records Management procedures.
  • Monitor payments and ensure timely processing of client and provider claims.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare documents using computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Ensure recipient information is correctly inputted into the claims processing system.
  • Process and coordinate accommodations, transportation, and meals for members following Health Canada's guidelines.
  • Process and coordinate member's Non-Insured Health Benefit claims.
  • Respond to member queries regarding claims.
  • Prepare preapprovals and process mental health counselling claims.
  • Respond to member queries regarding mental health counselling.
  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to management and other staff, as required.
  • Ensure files are stored and maintained as per the Qalipu Electronic Records Management System and Quality Management Protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Business or Office Administration or other similar education.
  • Medical Terminology, previous experience or exposure to working in a medical environment may be considered.
  • Two years related experience with similar employment.
  • Knowledge of office administration and records management procedures.
  • Knowledge of data entry systems.
  • Confidentiality concerning client health and financial records.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including the ability to operate spreadsheet and word-processing programs.

Working Conditions:

  • This is an office-based position with duties predominantly met during regular working hours.
  • Some travel, overtime, and flexibility of work schedule will be required.

Employee Benefits:

  • Annual Leave: FT employees - Three weeks per year.
  • Statutory and Non-Statutory Holidays: Employees are entitled to 13 days off to cover Statutory and Non-statutory holidays per year.
  • Summer Office Hours: Office hours during the summer months are from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday, Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
  • Christmas Break: the office closes down during the Christmas break.
  • FT Employee Benefits: Option to enrol in C of C - Employee Benefits Plan.
  • Registered Pension Plan: QFN has a pension plan, FT employees contribute from 4 to 7%, employee contributions are matched by the Band.
  • FT Sick and Family Medical: Full Time Employees are entitled to 12 paid sick and family medical days per year.
  • Under 2 hours Medical Appointment: Employees may attend an appointment of less than 2 hours with no deductions to Sick and Family Medical.
  • Discretionary Bereavement: One day off per year for the death of a relative not included as immediate family, a close friend or neighbor.
  • Volunteer Program: Employees may volunteer outside of the organization up to 21 hours per year.
