General Technician - Prentiss, AB

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the General Technician is responsible for assisting in the safe completion of day to day activities at the Prentiss Air Separation Plant. This is a skilled entry level position with training and development opportunities for advancement

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed and maintained with a specific focus on the Fillzone area
  • Responsible for the accurate completion of truck loading paperwork
  • Assist and review of safe loading procedures for Merchant and Oilwell Service customers
  • Assist with general maintenance activities alongside mechanical, instrument/electrical and operations technicians as required
  • Assist with general facility clean-up


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • ABSA 4th Class Power Engineer is preferred
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Experience operating forklifts, zoom booms, overhead cranes and lifting devices is preferred
  • Must be able to complete work activities utilizing safe work practices and be able to understand and follow company policies
  • General related experience or previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to take verbal directions and instruction
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with industry standard computer software (MS Word, Excel)
  • Ability to read and follow equipment drawings (P&ID's) is an asset
  • Good understanding of the English language including verbal, written, and reading skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and work as part of a team
  • Ability to learn new tools and equipment
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces when required
  • Ability to work variable hours including overtime and weekends as needed
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting up to 20-50 lbs., bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time
