Community Services Support Worker

**Job Summary:** Provide administrative and community services support to clients, maintain a clean and organized reception area, and assist with various programs and events.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide general reception service to the public, including answering phones, delivering messages, and receiving deliveries and donations
* Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the reception areas
* Distribute food hampers and clothing vouchers, and assist with data entry
* Organize and stock non-monetary donations and purchased products
* Assist clients with laundry and shower facilities, and maintain safety and security
* Provide crisis intervention and support as needed
* Assist with seasonal programs, including Christmas, Kettles, and Food drives
* Prepare food hampers for clients and maintain food bank cleanliness and organization

Administrative Support:

* Record statistics for the Community Services Department and Corps
* File documents for the Community Services Department
* Receive, record, and disburse mail
* Assist with correspondence, filing, and scanning
* Support leadership staff with administrative tasks

Contacts:

* Frequent contact with the public, including individuals who may be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs
* Steady interaction with staff members
* May encounter uncooperative individuals and chaotic situations

Working Conditions:

* Frequent association with individuals who may be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs
* Potential for stress due to chaotic encounters
* Lifting/moving of up to 40 pounds required
* General housekeeping tasks required to maintain workspace

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

* Social Service Experience
* Strong computer skills
* Ability to learn Salvation Army specific software
* Current First Aid/CPR certification
* Clear Criminal Record Check required
* Completion of high school plus additional courses in facilities management or equivalent

Preferred Skills/Capabilities:

* Previous experience in reception or general administrative work
* Ability to work cooperatively with volunteers
