Actuarial Assistant/Analyst role seeks to develop knowledge of life insurance products and pricing analysis in a 12-month contract.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Product Actuarial team and other actuarial professionals to support product development and pricing analysis.

The role requires a versatile team member with strong communication skills, able to deal with technical and non-technical audiences.

The candidate will apply pricing best practices, develop process improvements, and enhance the capabilities of the Product Actuarial team.

The role involves supporting pricing actuaries, understanding pricing models, and developing high-quality pricing models using Moody's AXIS software.

The candidate will contribute to product reports, build knowledge and expertise, and present pricing analysis to the Actuarial Advisory Group.

The role requires a strong understanding of life insurance products, pricing guidelines, and policies, as well as the ability to identify opportunities for process improvements.

The candidate will work closely with other Foresters departments, including Corporate Actuarial, Risk Management, Finance, Planning, Sales, IT, and Product Management.

The role involves communicating results of pricing analysis to fellow team members and other actuarial professionals within Foresters.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in mathematics, science, business, economics, or another relevant field, and demonstrated progress through the SOA and CIA education and examination process.

The candidate will have strong communication skills, able to deal with technical and non-technical audiences, and be capable of performing bottom-up checking of processes or models to ensure accuracy of results.

The role requires an innovative thinker and problem solver, able to think outside the box and develop project and time management skills as responsibilities increase.

The candidate will have the ability to develop and maintain current knowledge of life insurance products in the U.S. and Canada, and begin to gain familiarity with product regulations and other external standards.

The role involves working in a team environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality results and contributing to the success of the Product Actuarial team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pricing actuaries in the production of deliverables for product initiatives
  • Understand how pricing models work and detect potential model errors
  • Become familiar with Moody's AXIS software to support development of high-quality pricing models
  • Follow pricing guidelines, standards, and policies while supporting development of pricing assumptions and production of cash flow projections
  • Contribute written content to product reports and present pricing analysis to the Actuarial Advisory Group
  • Provide visibility to pricing actuaries on opportunities to improve existing processes or risks associated with work being performed
  • Support the production of performance monitoring and planning deliverables
  • Identify opportunities to improve the structure or maintenance of pricing infrastructure
  • Develop understanding of how the Product Actuarial team interacts with other Foresters departments
  • Communicate results of pricing analysis to fellow team members and other actuarial professionals within Foresters
Key Qualifications:
