Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility, the Coordinator, Accessibility, and Inclusion will support the implementation of the Justice Equity Inclusion and Accessibility (JEDI&A) plan and the Accessibility Plan. A professional in accessibility, the incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring that the NGC exceeds and maintains regulatory compliance with the Accessible Canada Act in achieving a barrier-free Canada by 2040

The Coordinator, Accessibility and Inclusion will consult with internal and external stakeholders in the development of the Accessibility Plan. The incumbent will be responsible for publishing the Accessibility Plan, receiving and responding to questions related to the Accessibility Plan, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and working with all stakeholders to make the NGC a more accessible environment overall

This incumbent will also provide administrative coordination and support for the unit as required.

Requirements


• The completion of a program related to diversity, inclusion, equity, and/or accessibility

• Experience providing financial and administrative support

• Knowledge of the Accessible Canada Act, the Canadian Human Rights Act, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and other regulatory requirements.

• Awareness of current accessibility and accommodation practices, trends, and approaches

• Awareness of the challenges facing equity-seeking groups in accessing employment services and public spaces.

• Bachelor's degree in humanities, social sciences, or a related field or or 3 years equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in coordinating accessibility is an asset.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint.

• Ability to produce clear, concise, logical and written material in English (and/or) French

• Ability to use a variety of writing styles and approaches as appropriate to the circumstances and intended readership (or recipient(s).

• Communicate information or issues of an important or sensitive nature when and where appropriate.

• Receive, assist and reply to a variety of visitor inquiries

• Manage and deliver information requests either by mail, email, telephone or in person

• Collaborates with other departments and key community and/or internal stakeholder groups as required on projects

• Exercises diplomacy and tact when aligning to and addressing needs of stakeholders
