Geriatric Clinician

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Geriatric Clinician, providing assessment, treatment, consultation, and follow-up services to mentally ill elderly clients of special complexity and difficulty, and their caregivers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical services to elderly clients and their caregivers, including comprehensive psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, and interventions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and provide consultation and support to families and caregivers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and services to facilitate client and caregiver utilization of appropriate resources.
  • Participate in mental health and substance use services training and planning activities, and provide education and consultation to referral agencies and care facilities.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Counselling, or other relevant health-related discipline.
  • One year's recent experience working with geriatric psychiatry clients in a recognized psychiatric and/or community mental health setting.
  • Eligible for registration with relevant professional association.
  • Valid Class V BC Driver's Licence and possession of a personal vehicle.
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated clinical skills in working with older adults with age-related mental health issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with professionals, clients, and caregivers.
  • Ability to provide formal and informal education and consultation.
  • Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams and network with other services and agencies.
