Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Reporting Analyst to join our Finance and Accounting team at CPKC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for sustaining and improving critical and complex sets of accounting and reporting functions, and supporting the Corporate Reporting team's activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting activities to ensure accurate and timely completion of daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare financial analysis on monthly and quarterly data to provide insights and recommendations for business decisions.
  • Prepare external financial disclosures in compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), tax, securities regulation, and SOX.
  • Perform analysis of various accounting issues, resolve and implement new procedures to improve reporting processes.
  • Respond to queries from auditors and internal reviewers to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.
  • Identify possible improvements to the reporting process and implement selected solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support other external and legal entity reporting activities to ensure seamless and accurate financial reporting.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, or other relevant fields.
  • Training towards a CPA designation.
  • 1 to 2 years relevant experience in accounting and reporting.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP requirements is desirable.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
