Teach French language acquisition courses to students in grades 7-12 at an International Baccalaureate Continuum school.

Mulgrave is an IB school offering the PYP, MYP, and DP programs, with a strong focus on language learning and cultural exchange.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach IB MYP and/or DP French language acquisition courses
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of and passion for the French language and Francophone cultures
  • Collaborate with the European Languages team to develop and strengthen the language learning program
  • Connect with and inspire students to outstanding achievement in language learning
  • Serve as Homeroom Advisor for a group of approximately 12 Senior School students
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Develop a classroom environment that builds positive relationships and fosters an ethic of care
  • Design, prepare and deliver learning activities that facilitate authentic engagement
  • Identify and select instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
  • Use relevant technology to enhance instruction and learning
  • Design and implement a range of authentic formative and summative assessments, providing appropriate and timely feedback to students
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress for the purposes of teaching, learning and reporting
  • Participate in faculty and parent meetings and special events
  • Model respectful and timely communication with students, colleagues and parents
  • Attend professional development workshops as required by the school
  • Endorse the school's mission and values
Requirements:
  • Must be a Canadian resident and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Hold BC teacher certification, or meet all TRB requirements and be willing and able to obtain certification to teach in BC
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in French, with native-level command of the language, both oral & written
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching French language to adolescents
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching DP French
  • Involvement with the IB Educator Network as a Workshop Leader, Examiner, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong organisational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills
  • Experience teaching within the IB DP framework
  • Knowledge and understanding of the International Baccalaureate programmes
Compensation:

The base annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of $70,000 to $119,000.
